Greetings!
I have just finished reading the new second edition of Energy Psychology: Explorations at the Interface of Energy, Cognition, Behavior, and Health, by Fred Gallo, PhD. It explores the implications of kinesiology and energy fields in the treatment of psychological problems. This exploration will be of interest to all who are using Touch for Health Kinesiology and those Kinesiologies which have come out of AK and Touch for Health. The first chapter on the history of paradigms is a must read for anyone wanting to explain and understand what we are doing as TFH Kinesiologists. More about this in this issue.

The expansion of the energy paradigm in chapter three is one of the best explanations I have read and will give you insights into ways to explain our work to professionals as this book is geared for the health professional. It takes a historical perspective and brings the field up to date, giving simple explanations that are easily understood.

Chapter 4, Origins of Energy Psychology (or adding muscle to therapy) credits Applied Kinesiology and George Goodheart as the origin and has a very good historical review. This review includes the basic corrections that we used in the development of Touch for Health. It could have put more up to date information about how TFH and Applied Kinesiology have changed, but it is overall an excellent source of the history of the development of Energy Psychology's origins. It goes on to describe Other Applied Kinesiology offshoots, which we would all recognize and many of us have studied, such as Three-In-One, Educational Kinesiology, and Professional Kinesiology Practitioner. The last one mentioned is Thought Field Therapy, which was developed by Roger Callahan, Ph.D., who I sponsored for membership in the International College of Applied Kinesiology many years ago.

Chapter Five is devoted to the Diamond Method to Cantillation. If you are not familiar with this work, the book price is worth it for this chapter alone to get the basics of Behavioral Kinesiology. Dr. Diamond's books are well written and available to the general public. John Diamond M.D., Australian Psychiatrist, was one of the charter members of the ICAK. I personally worked with him in the expansion of Applied Kinesiology for several years during its early development.

Chapter 7, The Energy Therapist Manual, gives you a brief outline of how to use Energy Psychology. Training in TFHK will allow you to easily understand and try these procedures for yourself. It uses a single muscle test or no muscle test and tapping meridian points as the protocols, called therapeutic algorithms.

Manual Muscle Testing, Uses and Abuses

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Appendix: Manual Muscle Testing, Uses and Abuses, is must reading for anyone using manual muscle testing. I agree with him that more empirical research is needed in our field. There are mentions of the limited research that has been done. He says, "Manual muscle testing can be abused. The tester's intention and level of consciousness is important here. By this I mean that there are levels of consciousness. Consider shame, greed, striving for power and other less than desirable ego states." These are important considerations for all of us who are working to make this world a better place. It is important that we get feedback from our peer about how we are functioning when we are using muscle testing as sometimes our motives are not clear to us. We all need to have "A position of disinterest in the results and humility is preferred" as Gallo states. In his section on Self-testing his final line is "I think that good self-testing is equivalent to having accurate intuitions." I believe that we all have a tendency to "tell ourselves what we want to hear" with self-testing so we need to know our own bias's that are not well suited to accurate use of manual muscle testing.
This book serves as an introduction to the rapidly growing field of energy psychology, presents emerging treatment approaches and inspires future directions for research. It is a valuable guide that broadens our understanding of the scope and science of psychology and TFHK. I hope it will inspire many of you to consider becoming a TFHK Scientist and being part of our research into TFHK, using the eTouch Internet Portal. We are gathering data on many balancing sessions to have more evidence of the kind of outcomes that people are experiencing with different techniques.
REPORT ON JOHN THIE'S HEALTH
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since our last report I received the results of the latest blood tests. I continue to improve. The anemia situation is just below the normal range. The PSA is lower than it has been since the surgery so it is continue to improve, as well as the liver enzyme marker for bone disorders are the lowest yet. These last two tests are still seriously high, but moving in the right direction. I am exercises daily, continuing on the very strict food style of very nutritious foods.

If you are praying or giving me surrogate balances or other energy work from a distance, thank you very much and I will appreciate your continued gifts. I know that these efforts by you have helped me in overcoming this situation. I am not yet well and continue to follow a well designed program of recovery. For all of you who have sent suggestions thank you. I am staying with my present program as it seems to be working well. Thanks to those of you who have sent cards and email messages. I appreciate hearing from you.

Relevance of acupuncture, homeopathy, prayer & Applied Kinesiology to energy therapy

Gallo also focuses on the relevance of acupuncture, homeopathy, prayer, and Applied Kinesiology to energy therapy. This new edition features expanded sections on the scientific underpinnings and clinical research. Dr. Gallo draws on more than 35 years of clinical experience, investigating the body's energy patterns. I recommend this book for your study and library. John F. Thie, DC
